Teenage Advisory Board

The Aspen Effect is proud to have our very own adult-mentored Teen Advisory Board who counsel us on how to improve our youth programming. They also volunteer for other programs we run and help us promote our services in the community. Once we receive all youth applications, our senior youth leaders will contact the applicants, learn more about their desire to join and ability to lead, and make a decision on the final board. Only twelve high school teens are chosen each school year to serve The Aspen Effect and as a critical youth voice in Douglas County for local schools, civic leaders and organizations that focus on youth mental health. No fee required. Donations welcomed! Priority given to youth demonstrating strong commitment.

Minimum Requirements:

A donation per youth by parent/guardian is requested but not required. If you can donate extra for a scholarship fund so that other youth can participate, please do!

  • Youth is high school age.

  • A completed application will be received. Click button above.

  • A parent agreement will be signed and submitted.

  • Youth will demonstrate respect to mentor, animals and facility.

  • Youth will commit to the program and attend at least 80% of monthly meetings.

Teen Advisory Board Mission

“We serve as a youth voice to and for The Aspen Effect, and for other organizations in the community who are concerned about youth mental health. We do this with authenticity, vulnerability about our own mental health, and a desire to hone our leadership skills in making the world a better place.”
