The Problem is growing all around us. Just as there is currently a quiet crisis playing out in our US forests as huge numbers of trees succumb to drought, disease, insects and wildfire, there is a growing youth crisis in Douglas County. Colorado ranks 43rd out of all US states in combined metrics of suicide rate, mental health issues, death from drug overdoses. The youth death rate from Fentanyl is growing by an alarming rate.

Our Solution

We are a home-grown youth solution in Douglas County, Colorado.

Our Solution…

…Disrupts. The resilience of the aspen tree disrupts the way we normally think about trees. Because of the unique root system, the aspen is the oldest living, largest organism in the world. The basis of our approach is borrowed from non-traditional strategies focused on a strength-based approach that honors family culture and individual preference.

…Is Unique. When compared to traditional trees, the unique differences of an aspen grove support its strength, size and longevity. Our positively unique approach with youth and their families has resulted in documented life improvement that grows and lasts.

…Heals With Grounding and Connection. A strong root system grows deep and connects an aspen grove as one organism and nourishes a mutual, organic growth. Lack of connection to a trusted adult is one of the top risk factors cited in the Colorado Attorney General’s report on youth suicide. A strong sense of self and a genuine relationship with family, friends and nature provide youth with internal and shared strength.

…Thrives With Protection and Nurturing. Aspens face natural adversities as they struggle to grow tall and beautiful. Today, teens have to choose between emotional resilience or escaping life’s circumstances and growth pains through isolation, substance abuse or even consideration of suicide. Our approach promotes boundary setting, a positive mindset and a thriving focus on a hopeful future.

…Involves Healthy Work & Fun. For Coloradans, the aspen tree is a special icon that represents our love for the outdoors, fitness and active enjoyment. Physical well-being and enjoyable activities are critical pillars in supporting youth and their families.
