March 2024 Edition

Happy March!

Although we are ready for Spring, it is still winter weather in Sedalia, Colorado! But our animals are warm and so are our hearts as we continue to serve the wonderful youth in this community!

Spend less than two minutes to watch this video of our new mini horse, Pearl, as she meets the other horses and goats. She’s spunky and full of life…and will hopefully bring some joy to your day! I also want to share some moments from our youth programs during the past few months. We love these teens and are so blessed to connect with them in their journeys.

YOUTH PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

In our Animal Lovers Volunteer Club program, we match certified, background-checked adult volunteer mentors with youth so they can spend an hour each week for ten weeks building a positive relationship. Sometimes they build, create or fix things at the ranch. Other times, they might groom a mini horse or halter some goats and walk the trail together.

Cooper and Michael just started their mentor meetups at the ranch. Michael drives over an hour to get to Sedalia, but values his time with Cooper!

Their first big project was erecting a fence between the goats and the mini horses so the goats can no longer eat the mini horses’ tails!

In our Ranch Hand Service Crew program, sponsored by Fidelis Wealth, we invite high school teens to earn service credit hours by joining us at the ranch or at another community location to serve. We know that teamwork and service help youth get outside of themselves and tap into self-worth by doing something good for others. A free lunch, a teen money moment, and a connection with farm animals also help!

After arriving at the Mane Mission Ranch, these high school teens quickly become acquainted with Boomer…and with each other.

These youth created a music wall for the intellectually or developmentally disabled folks that visit the ranch each year.

By the end of the day, not only did the barn receive new paint, but so did some of the painters!

The Mane Mission provides services to IDD groups and these teens decided to give them the gift of their time and creativity!
