A SPECIAL SRO PARTNERSHIP

Over the past few years, our Teen Advisory Board has built a special partnership with the Douglas County School Resource Officers (SROs). Not only did they present survey results from 1,000+ local teens to SRO Command Staff and DC Commissioners and help expand the presence of therapy animals in schools, one of this group’s mentors is an SRO!

In the next few weeks, they’re launching three social media video reels featuring interviews with SROs to highlight their sacrifice, humanity, and commitment to student safety (view the first one below). Please “like” these reels on our social media page and follow us to see more!

TEENS ASKING TEENS ABOUT SUBSTANCE USE

Our Teen Advisory Board created a Teen Substance Use Prevention survey to understand teens’ knowledge and perspectives in Douglas County. Please share this link with at least FIVE TEENS via text or social media! Their input will help shape The Aspen Effect’s expanded SUD prevention curriculum this year. Survey closes on March 13th.

The Teen Advisory Board meets biweekly during the school year with every other meeting in person at Happy Dog Ranch to work on projects and support one another. We are currently searching for members of the 2026-27 team…candidates can apply here. One of the highlights of each ranch meeting is eating a delicious Chick-Fil-A meal donated generously by Castle Rock franchise owner, Joe Weber!
